An exhibition of the elements
Element (action) is a visual depiction of the path through the seasons we embark on annually curated by Amber Capwell, exhibiting alongside them, Lucas, Ari and Yvette. Each of the artists were chosen to compose artworks specific to the season best represented within their work. Beginning with water at the southern most part of the gallery, just as the calendar year in the Northern Hemisphere begins with winter in January, we step into a wave of work that speaks through this element, narrated by print and sculpture. Carried along the path we are taken to the next element, air which is linked to the freshness and renewal of spring, representing breezy and light qualities. Here we are moved to look up at sculptures and prints transformed by air. As we drift through this portion we fall into fire. Here we are witness to passion, energy, and the transformative nature of this element through mixed media sculpture and painting. To close out this journey we ground ourselves within the solidity and stability of the earth elements through wood and print, finding ourselves coming back to origin, ready to begin again.
As a group, we have joined forces to weave a captivating narrative that traverses the cyclical journey of the year through the seasons, the elements. Each of us contributes a unique perspective, creating a collective mosaic that celebrates the diverse elements that shape our world.
In this exhibition, we embrace the challenge of distilling the essence of each season into visual narratives. From the serene reflection of winter's water to the uplifting qualities of spring's air, the fiery passion of summer, and the grounding stability of autumn's earth, our artworks collectively embody the ebb and flow of nature.
Element (action) is more than an exhibition; it is a shared exploration of the interconnectedness between our individual artistic voices and the natural world. Through our collective efforts, we invite you to immerse yourself in the ever-shifting tableau of the seasons and discover the beauty that emerges when diverse perspectives converge in a harmonious celebration of art and nature.
