Based Bakery was founded in 2010, originating from a simple goal of selling mini apple pies at the Riverside Artswalk in Southern California. The project operated through 2014.

        Working out of a friend’s pizza kitchen in Colton, I produced an extensive range of baked goods that were sold through independent retailers across Southern California, as well as at shows, private events, and pop-ups. Products were also distributed nationally via an online storefront.

       Affordable rent in Riverside made it possible to sustain the bakery as a full-time endeavor for three years, supported by a strong and generous community. The project evolved into several experimental offshoots, including a weekly Taco Tuesday pop-up, a collaborative juice bar, and a medicinal-focused concept titled Sweetleaf.

        In 2014, as I prepared to relocate to Portland and in light of the already saturated vegan bakery landscape there, I chose to close Based Bakery indefinitely.
